UNIT 3 Lesson 13, 14, 15, 16: Exploring Techniques

STARTER: New technique discussion: why? what are your personal aims? What are the benefits? What do we mean by NEW process? etc. 

Lesson Aims: To learn and refine new textiles techniques 

Lesson Objectives (during these lessons you will):
1. Learn a minimum of 2 new processes 
2. Be able to self/peer-teach appropriately following instructions/tutorials
3. Have a teacher led demonstration for at least one technique 

TASKS/TIMINGS
Learn a minimum of 2 new processes through teacher instruction or self-led exploration (you can use the laminates in class and/or the links to tutorials/instructions below) 


knitcrochetneedle weaving weave - some interesting examples of mixed media weave - HERE, felting, felted pod

fabric manipulation tutorials, pleating, shadow folding , origami folding, layering and cut through, shibori 


digital printing, lino cutting, mono print, foiling, fragment app, heat transfer, Gelli printing 

rust dye, shibori, natural dyeing- dyeing with red onion skins, eco dyeing,  bleaching, anthotype, cyanotype, batik, ice dye 

HOMEWORK
1. Continued sampling - you should have 3-5 samples per technique. Remember REVIEW and REFINE
2. Present samples in sketchbook/on boards relating it to appropriate images/drawings/yarn wraps etc.
