UNIT 4, LESSON 1: THE EXAM

Your Exam Unit starts now!

Starter: What is the exam unit?


As a group we will discuss what the exam unit is. Here is the link to the exam PPT 

Lesson Aims:  To begin working towards AO1 (developing ideas) and AO3 (recording) by understanding the requirements of the exam unit and developing ideas for each of the exam titles on offer.

Lesson Objectives (during this lesson you will):
1. Discuss what the exam unit is
2. Receive your exam paper and understand how the exam works
3. Analysis the exam topics using the 'word frame' sheet
4. Have a group discussion 
5. Select the exam theme you will use as a starting point 
Extension: Find visual imagery to create an A3 mood board by hand. Make sure you include images of artists work, your chosen exam title. Note: Make sure you use Pinterest as a start for your research.

TASKS/TIMINGS 

10 MINUTES Starter 

15 MINUTES initial response
Using the word frame sheets provided make notes for each of the exam themes... remember if you get stuck on your 'starter for 10' it may not be the theme best suited to you! Use Pinterest & books in class to enhance your ideas 

30 MINUTES Discussion & annotation 
Group discussion of ideas for the topics - annotate the exam paper, mind map, add to word frames, notebook - whatever way suits you for making notes 

10 MINUTES Reflect 
Come back to you word frame sheet, reflect on the class discussion and select your theme 

10 MINUTES Homework setting 
Research artists - you need to bring in 3 images for each of your chosen artists for next lesson (you must look at a minimum of 2 artists) - use pinterest as a starting point! 
DEADLINE: NEXT LESSON

PLENARY 
State your theme to the group - group together in themes and exchange and discuss ideas to add to your word frames
